Scythe 2
Do you believe in 100 years, this novel will be considered a "classic"? Will it stand the test of time and be something that students will be reading in an English class of the future? Why or why not?

I don't think that scythe will be considered a classic in 100 years because most other books that are considered classic now are read in full in English classes normally its a small passage. It may be a book that is known but not very popular.
ReplyDeleteI don't think scythe will be a classic novel because Scythe is set in the future while most classic novels are set in the past. Classic novels are usually about things we already have already experienced, and Scythe is about the future, something we don't know about.
ReplyDeleteI don't think this book will be a classic just because it feels more like its in the future and i feel like most classic book aren't. Classic books are more set in the past than the future.
ReplyDeleteI do not think this would ever be considered a classic novel. It is more of a dystopian novel and I feel that these types of books usually would not fit the category of a classic. It does show a good example about politics and what it can lead to but I don't think it has the themes necessary for an classic novel. I just could not picture anyone reading this in an English class today.
ReplyDeleteno not many people read really long books anymore and most of the time people only read books if there friends or family recommends it to them. It could be a English book in the future but only because it has some good points in it.
ReplyDeleteI don't think this book will be considered a classic or read in English classrooms. For one, while its take on the political issue of abortion and bodily autonomy is unique and fun to read about, it wouldn't provide much historical value for allowing future readers to understand contemporary views on the issue, and while good, due to the above-mentioned lack of later historical value, English classes would likely not read it, nor will it be considered a classic.
ReplyDeleteI do not think this book will be considered a classic in 100 years. All though this book is good i do not think a classical novel has so much gory in them like Scythe does. I do not think its theme could be classified as a classic.
ReplyDeleteI think this book series is good enough to still be recognized and well-read in the future, but I don't particularly think it would make sense as a classic due to the utopian theme. On the other hand, it could potentially be kind of timeless because no matter how far into the future, it's doubtful that society will advance as far as it does in this series
ReplyDeleteI agree that is will still be read in the future just not so much for a class.
DeleteI do not think that Sythe will become a classic, although it is a good read, there is not a very good message that comes out of it unlike a lot of the classics in todays society.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe it will become a classic because the book is a part of a series. Although this series is great it doesn't have the characteristics a book needs for it to be considered a classic.
ReplyDeleteI don't think this book will become a classic because this book is a part of a series and is based on events in the future. I think the book is very good but it's not like any classics we have today
ReplyDeleteI kind of feel like this book could be around for a while. A lot of why I think this si because there isnt a set time period. I feel like when there is a year that it takes place it makes me think of what was or might be happening in that year and it throws me off. The story doesnt have a huge message that comes outright to you but I did think it was a very good story. I feel like it wont be read for its young adult elements but for a dystopian unit.
ReplyDeleteI feel as this book could be around for a while, maybe not read in classrooms/ English classes but I feel it has the potential to keep being brought up in the future because of how good it was. I feel like readers just need a push to read this book because if I was in a library, I would have never picket it out and I really enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteI don't think this book will be considered a classic because it's a fiction novel. Not often do you see fiction novels become classics. They don't have realistic aspects in them so there are not a whole lot of common days lessons to learn from. You also aren't able to look back on the mistakes in the past like other books we read in English classes because it's also set in the far future. I also read the third book in the Scythe series so that is also another reason why I don't think this book would become a classic or be read in English classes in 100 years.
ReplyDeleteI feel like Scythe will not be a classic in the future because this is a really hit or miss kind of book if you like it or not. I do think this book will be known in the future as a really good book but I don't think it will be in classes. The scythe books are really good for your imagination and it is cool to see what a world like this would be, but it isn't very realistic and some people may not get the overall message of the books. Also all of the books are set in the far future and so that is why I don't think it will become a classic.
ReplyDeleteI dont think this book will be a classic. Personally I feel like classics have more of a deep meaning to them and scythe was more of just an inrtiguing story.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it'll be a classic but definitely popular still. I don't think teachers will make kids read it but kids who like to read would probably still read it and enjoy it.
