The Last Cuentista 2

Do you believe in 100 years, this novel will be considered a "classic"?  Will it stand the test of time and be something that students will be reading in an English class of the future?  Why or why not?

Comments

  1. I do not think this will be considered a classic in 100 years because I can not think of any books that are not a nonfiction diary or plays by famous people. So seeing how it is not realistic or by a very popular person I don't think it will stand time in the world.

  2. I highly doubt it will be considered a classic just because it doesnt have those characteristics of a classic that some books have. I feel like fictions like this book dont stick around as much and it doesnt have that strong of a message to make it stick around either.

  3. I don't think it would be a classic. When I think classic, I think of books like To Kill a Mockingbird where it was written and set in the present time with historical context. Not one that is set in the future with things that are more fictional.

  4. I do not think this will be a classic only because lots of people aren't interested in a book made of non real events and lots of people are already using audio books so in the future technology will be more advanced and not many people will come across this book. I also didn't really see a lasting message in this book for it to carry into the future.

  5. I do not think this book will be a classic. I think this because it is set in the future. Since this book is set in the future and not more historical times i do not think this book would fit in being a classic novel.

    1. I agree that since it was set very far in the future that it will not become a classic. Most classics are set or written in older times because people have lived through those time periods and we have an idea of what life was like

  6. I don't think this book will be a classic because it was hard to get into and you can't really connect with the book. You have to like these kinds of books or else you wouldn't really know what was going on and it was set in the future so most of the things didn't even happen yet. The book was good but I don't think it will be a classic.

  7. Personally I don't think this book will be considered a classic. While reading this book, I often felt confused and lost. I never really understood what was happening or what the goal of the story line was. I don't think it was a bad book, but it was definitely not good enough to be considered a classic.

  8. I definitely don't think this will be a classic, mainly because the tone feels very immature, which was fitting for the age of the character but not for such a confusing and emotional storyline. I think the author missed out on a chance to be realistic with the character's grief and touch on some impactful themes. For this reason and others, it was very difficult to develop an emotional connection to the story or the characters, which is an indicator that it won't "stand the test of time." In my eyes, the voice felt too much like the books I read in elementary school to be considered a classic novel.

    1. I 100% percent agree that she felt like a very young or immature character for a young adult book like that last cuentista.

  9. I don't think it will become a classic because the book is targeted for a younger audience. I also feel like classics are meant to teach some kind of lesson with the book. I could definitely see students reading this book, but I don't think English classes in the future are going to read it because it just doesn't have the right elements.

  10. I don't think this book will become a classic. I don't feel like this book shows any strong lesson that would be beneficial enough for us to read in English classes. Often times, classic novels are not fiction and they are about the past instead of the future to help us learn from it. I don't think this book is good enough, or has the right elements, to become a classic that is read over the next 100 years.

  11. I don't think this book will become a classic. The book isn't a type of book you would read in an English class. This book isn't based off of something that has happened so I don't see classes in the future reading it

  12. I don't think this book will become a classic. I feel like not many kids would actually read this because of how unrealistic this novel is. so, I feel that no class would get anything out of reading this book there is really no learning objective.

  13. I don't think that this book will become a classic just because it is set in the future and not many classic books are in the future. Also this book didn't really have a main point or lesson involved with it and most classic books do.

  14. In my opinion, I don't think this book will become a classic, just because it was confusing and felt odd to read. I don't think kids will read this in class because of how unrealistic it is and not really much of a point.

  15. No I do not think that this book will become a classic because it is very fiction and does not to relate to the real world unlike a lot of classic books nowadays

  16. I do not. With how rough around the edges this book is, the odds of it being remembered especially fondly in 100 years is incredibly slim. The book has redeeming factors, but they are not numerous or impactful enough to help it stand the test of time or be worthy of curriculum reading.

  17. Um probably not I would say. It didn't really have a strong message that I took away from it. I mean it didn't impact me at all. I haven't thought about this book since I finished it. It just doesn't have what it needs to become a classic and really have an impact on its reader. I also feel like the story of it is just so unorganized and unrealistic that this would almost be considered a child's book. You have to have a big imagination to truly enjoy it.

  18. I highly doubt it due to how confusing, unrealistic, and poorly executed it was. It had great ideas and I believe if someone else were to rewrite it it would be great, maybe not a classic but better then where it's at now. It felt empty and half a-sed. They dropped so many ideas but never took them out making it confusing and strange. it left so many questions and the end was beyond rushed. they should've split it between two books or made it longer to fit everything in.
