Turtles/Paper Towns 3

What components does your book have to make it a page-turner?  Or was this book a little slow to get started?  Was there a point where you just couldn't put it down?  Or did you struggle getting through it?  Please provide examples.

  1. I struggled to get into this book through out the whole thing. I felt this book was very slow paced for my liking. Anytime Aza would talk about what she was thinking about herself negatively, it would bore me and i found it hard to follow along with the story. Or when the parts about star wars were talked about i did not follow what was going on. I never honestly thought of this book as a page turner at anytime.

    1. I agree with the Star Wars parts because I also didn't understand what was going on because I have never watched anything Star Wars.

    2. I agree. I hated hearing her continue to degrade herself I got bored of it. I couldn't understand why she thought like that and why she couldn't stop.

  2. I struggled to get into this book, it was very slow until the very end of the book. I struggled most of the way through it until the last 30 pages. The only time I thought I wanted to read this book for fun was to find out if they found that "something." I felt as if there was a lot of pointless actions that could have been left out.

    1. I agree with the pointless parts, because the book repeated itself over and over again. And I think that it was also slow.

    2. I definitely agree. I was struggling to get into it all the way up until the ending and even then it just was not as interesting as I hoped.

  3. I could not get into this book because i didnt comprehend some parts of the book. The only thing that made the book was at the end when they found the dads body. Otherwise overall it was just a boring book to me

    1. I agree that finding the dads body was the most eeventful thing that happened but they made it seem like such a nonchalent thing and then they never really elaborated on why the dad was there or what was going to happen to Davis and Noah.

  4. I didn't think this book was a page-turner until the very end, but even then I wasn't that interested. I thought this book was pretty hard to get into and even finish. I thought there was going to be more about the dad and searching for him, but that ended early in the book. I also thought Davis and Aza's relationship was very random and it confused me on how they became so close so quickly without seeing each other since they were younger. Many parts of the book also confused me, for example when they would talk about Star Wars I caught myself skipping over those parts just because I have never watched it before. I did think that it was interesting when Davis talked about the stars. At first I was very confused about Aza's mental health issue but throughout the book I started to understand more about how it was effecting her. A few parts in this book were intriguing, but overall it was very hard for me to finish.

  5. This book was good, but it didn't have any major, jaw dropping moments like other books do to keep your attention. There were parts of the book that were interesting and kept me wanting to see how they would unfold, and the ending was pretty solid, it was just a little slow throughout the entirety of it.

  6. I think there was a mix because at the begging it was a slow read but when it got towards the middle I couldn't put it down then I didn't want to read it. it was a little off and on but I'm glad I got thru it.

  7. I don't think this book was a real page-turner. It was confusing at the start and very slow. It was hard to stay entertained even at the end. I thought this book was going to be more of an adventure about them finding the dad but it was more of Aza's mental health. Some parts of the book I skipped over such as the star wars parts. I've never read or watched Star wars so I was a little confused. It also confused me when she showed up to Davis's house and instantly "fell in love" ,after not seeing each other for many years. Overall this novel was a slow and boring read book.

  8. I don't think this book was page turner. It was very confusing in the beginning and was just a boring book. I had a hard time getting through the book, I didn't really like the book. I would get very bored with how the author would talk about Aza and Davis love story and then switch over to his dad being missing. The whole thing with the dad leaving everything he owns to the tuatara and not his sons was really weird. Overall this book was very boring to read.

  9. I don't think this book was a page turned until after the car accident. When I read the back and I saw that it was about friends trying to get a reward for finding Davis's father I didn't expect the book to be like that. I think that some parts were a little confusing when she was in her head but then again that could be relatable to someone and not be relatable at all for the another person. Some parts were really interesting like when they found out what the runners mouth was, but other parts were boring like when they were talking about the stars just because I didn't really get what they were saying. Overall the book was pretty interesting because this was a whole new genre for me to read.

  10. I read John Green's book of essays, and even though there were parts I enjoyed a lot and I didn't want to put it down, I would not call it a page turner. That being said, I still really liked the book, but since it was nonfiction and very contemplative, it wasn't a page turner for me

  11. I personally dont think of this book as a page turner. I found it kind of boring and uneventful, I read it very fast but there was never really a time I just couldnt put it down. I would consider it just like an easy read because there wasnt a whole lot challenging and much to put me on edge to make me want to keep reading. I was really curious about Davis's life and I wish there couldve been more about him, and more detail about the ending like how will Davis and Noahs life be in the future.

  12. the book was kind of hard to get into, and the mental health struggles in the book overshadowed the actual plot line of them finding the billionaire. I really couldn't get into it because it felt so repetitive with her mental health and the way it was described and there wasn't a lot about them actually finding Russel. I also found it hard to read the parts about her cutting her callus on her thumb.

  13. For me this book was hard to get into and continue reading, I wish there was more to just her mental health like I wish there were more events that took place.

  14. To me this book had a plot i would read but it was very slow and hard to keep reading. It was very slow paced and hard to get threw. I usually take a while to read any way but this book was harder to get threw and continue on with. I found myself spacing of and not being able to continue reading.

  15. There were some slow points but I found it very interesting and it was kind of a page turner. I did space out and struggle to keep focus on the story at times but it was still really good. I feel it's probably for a slightly younger reader as it's a bit slower but nonetheless it's a great book in my opinion.
